The March For Women is a national call to protest the policy and
intent of the new administration against women’s rights. The details
will be announced closer to the Saturday event.
Plan to gather at a central location (to be determined) to March under
the TGEA banner. Invite any people to join with us as allies.
We do not know what the weather will be, so be prepared for the cold
or rain/snow. We might choose a color to wear, but that can be a
problem over heavy winter coats.
This is short notice and needs flexible thinking. The main thing is
being there in numbers as large as we can muster.
On Jan 15 at 8PM, TGEA and friends (Chaiya Mohanty Ortiz, Kayden Ortiz, Randi Johnson and Robert Rigby) did a live discussion on Arlington Community radio show “Beyond Just Talk with S. L. Young”, speaking on transgender topics.
The podcast of the show is available at https://www.mixcloud.com/beyondjusttalk/beyond-just-talk-with-s-l-young_011517/
The Transgender Day of Remembrance occurs annually on November 20, and is a day to memorialize those who have been killed over the previous year as a result of transphobia, or the hatred or fear of transgender and gender non-conforming people. This event also serves to bring attention to the continued violence endured by the trans* communities, especially those who exist on the margins. On average, there is one such murder in this country every month. Most of these murders go unsolved.
This year the 8th Annual Northern Virginia Interfaith
Trans* Day of Remembrance Service will be held:
Sunday, November 20, 7:00 PM
at The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax
2709 Hunter Mill Road Oakton, VA

Thu Oct 22 – Transgender Information and Empowerment Summit –
907 Floyd Ave, Richmond, VA
– at the Commons – Virginia Commonwealth University

In addition, this informative day allows LGBT and allied Virginians to learn about the 2016 Equality Virginia Legislative Priorities and feel inspired to stand up for equality in their own communities.
This year, Equality Virginia’s Day of Action will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 8:30am to 5:00pm at the Library of Virginia, 800 E. Broad St. Richmond, VA 23219. EV’s Day of Action will be followed by the Legislative Reception from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
