Nov 20th – Transgender Day of Remembrance Interfaith Service
The Transgender Day of Remembrance occurs annually on November 20, and is a day to memorialize those who have been killed over the previous year as a result of transphobia, or the hatred or fear of transgender and gender non-conforming people. This event also serves to bring attention to the continued violence endured by the trans* communities, especially those who exist on the margins. On average, there is one such murder in this country every month. Most of these murders go unsolved.
This year the 8th Annual Northern Virginia Interfaith
Trans* Day of Remembrance Service will be held:
Sunday, November 20, 7:30 PM
at The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax
2709 Hunter Mill Road Oakton, VA
Let’s Talk About It! A Transgender Survivor’s Guide to Accessing Therapy.
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, FORGE is proud to announce the online publication of Let’s Talk About It! A Transgender Survivor’s Guide to Accessing Therapy, available here:
Let’s Talk About It!.
This 107-page document is a groundbreaking guide aimed specifically at transgender survivors of sexual assault (50-66% of all trans people have experienced sexual assault) but that will be useful to non-survivors, as well (including victim service providers and therapists).
FORGE was founded in 1994 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to provide peer support primarily to those on the female-to-male (FTM) gender spectrum and local Significant Others, Friends, Family, and Allies (SOFFAs).
