TGEA Framework

The Transgender Education Association stands behind its promise of support for transgender individuals and the continuing education of the greater community to increase acceptance of transgender and non- binary people. Its many initiatives have improved life for those in the trans community and those who care for them.

In recent years, the TGEA has undergone a significant evolution, thanks to the initiatives of the volunteer members who have seen needs in the community and, through their ingenuity, found ways to fill many of those needs.

But, as it has become an indispensable leader for transgender guidance and rights in the Metropolitan DC area, the Board has realized that long-term planning has become critical for an organization with unique responsibilities to the transgender community, especially as resources and our management of programs grow. We owe that to the community and to future boards of the TGEA.

In an effort to baseline our efforts, the board has developed a Framework which captures our Mission Statement, Goals, Objectives, and the projects we take on to meet those objectives. As this is a work in progress, the Board will continue to update the Framework to match our focus and our resource requirements.
